Being out in nature rejuvenates my soul and calms the mind. Some of the fields have been harvested and set aside for pickup.
On ward and up ward as the trail disappeared into the woods. Off in the distance, deer watched as we passed. We climbed the switchbacks and came to the clearing where the squirrels were having a party eating all of the corn.
As I ventured forward, the hum of the cars and life disappeared. Finding a bench on the top of the hill near the tree was welcomed. Meditation or slowing down is challenging for me but when I am out in nature I can breathe in the fresh air and can embrace the quiet.
I look forward to the time out in nature when the winds of fall are blowing and the sun shining through the trees.
