My soul is calmed in and near water. It is powerful. It is soothing. It is strong. Water and its force cuts through rock. The hikes I seek out are in and near water. Nature is truly incredible. Its a dance like none other.
I found a trail tucked into the countryside of Pennsylvania. Up over and down again, climbing over the rocks and side stepping large marshy areas. I was totally surprised by the beauty of this area.
What I have found is that I have found my authentic self. It comes alive when I get lost in the beauty of nature. The contrast of the wood, rock and the moss growing in and among the trail provides depth and dimension.
I always thought that I was a city girl. I thought that I needed to be the 9 to 5 woman who sits behinds a desk. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that, but I feel so alive, calm and peaceful when challenged on the trails.
As I rounded the bend the sign read falls overlook. I proceeded down and around and before me emerged a truly breathtaking sight. The falls appeared before me. The roar of the water as it flowed forward with strength.
You could feel the mist of the water upon your face. It scared me and yet exhilarated me. Standing near the edge was a mirror image of a life full of opportunities. To find your power is to find your voice.
My thoughts become clear, my writing becomes easy and I breath in life and clarity.
